Who doesn’t love Sudoku ? Ok, at least a few people, but, for those who do, Phase2Media’s Sudoku Unlimited is sure to please.
Sudoku, for those who have lives, is a logical number puzzle played on a 9×9 grid. This large grid is further subdivided into nine 3×3 blocks each containing nine squares. So, what you get is one big square made up of 9 smaller squares. With this arrangement you have nine columns, nine rows and nine squares each with exactly nine spaces. Sound like a lot of 9s, wait, there’s more. The object of sudoku is to fill these squares with a number from 1-9 so that each row, each column and each small square have exactly one occurrence of each number. Sudoku puzzles usually pre-place some of the numbers for you. The more numbers pre-placed the easier the puzzle is to solve.
Sudoku Unlimited is a fantastic implementation of Sudoku on the iPhone. One of my favorite things about the game is how quickly it loads. There is no fancy splash screen or enticing intro music, just tap the icon and the game menu loads instantly. It’s really quite nice. Often times I’m only looking to kill a few minutes while the wife tries on clothes or lectures me about the proper use of shower cleansers. Having a fast loading game is essential in these situations.
Sudoku Unlimted sells for $2.99 and comes with 3 skins and a random puzzle generator. If your a little tight on coin Phase2Media also makes a slimmed down version for $.99 called Sudoku Classic (250 puzzles, no skins). There are 5 levels of play ranging in difficulty from “I’m New” to “I’m Clinically Insane”. Both Classic and Unlimited versions feature one touch number filling, a hint system and progress saving. If you’re looking to get you numbers on Sudoku Unlimted is a great way to go.
